HCSB is finding its tribe, and Dave Logan, co-author of Tribal Leadership has some excellent tips I’m finding helpful. Check them out and lock them in.

Steps to reinvention the tribal way:

1. Find people who strike you as having something to offer, and for whom you have something to give.

2. Ask these people, individually or in groups, formally or at Starbucks, “what opportunities do you see?”

3. Cobble together what people say, using the Tribal Leadership strategy model (chapter 11). Add your own thoughts and ideas.

4. Meet with the same people and go over what you came up with. After you brief them, ask: what do you think?

5. Add in their thoughts and approaches. If it’s appropriate, ask: is this something you’d like to do? We’ve met thousands of people who have reinvented themselves. In every case, people have turned to their tribes—or built a new tribe for this purpose—to give them in ideas, inspiration, and help they needed.

Welcome to the inaugural post of Podium 53, the virtual speaking platform for HCSB (the HarperCollins Speakers Bureau, located at 10 East 53rd Street in New York City). You’ll see that we’re in tune with “womenomics,” keeping up with the world through Anderson Cooper, and ready for a little improv anywhere.

In our current feature box news anchors Claire Shipman and Katty Kay reveal female power in the workplace in what they call Womenomics. View Charlie Todd, founder of Improv Everywhere to see why he’s “causing a scene.” On our speaker blog roll you’ll find Anderson Cooper, the Nation’s Johnathan Cohn and buzzmachine’s Jeff Jarvis, among many. In the words of the late Mississippi radio personality, Pearlie Mae Toliver, please “check us out and lock us in.” Send us a post. Tell us what you think. Join our community.
